duo of quiches: mediterranean vegetable and italian tomato with arugula

a day without having an experience related to food – whether in my kitchen or someone else’s – is a day lost. for me, there is no greater reliable comfort than cooking. the real joy comes from being able to share my dishes and recipes with others. there is something so fundamentally basic about the satisfaction that comes from preparing a meal and watching others enjoy it with as much pleasure as you experienced in making it.

moderncity: savor is my annotated journey through my love of cooking. i am not classically trained, and i didn’t spend countless hours with my mother or grandmother in the kitchen. i was, however, a fish monger in delaware before i moved to dc and became an administrator in the arts. i am not sure if it was my eight years managing the seafood market that began my love of cooking but it is certainly where i learned about work ethic and of course, the fundamentals of seafood – both of which i am most grateful.
